Abstract : Three different strains of D. purpurea callus (originating from seedlings, leaves and stem tissues) were grown on a modified Murashige and Skoog medium (MS) and on Schenk and Hildebrandt medium (SH). The media contained 1.0 mg/l 2,4-D2,4-dSubject Category: Chemicals and Chemical Groups

and variable amounts of kinetinkinetinSubject Category: Chemicals and Chemical Groups

. The influence of the strain, the medium and the concentration of kinetin on growth were studied by statistical analysis. In each case, SH medium proved best. In general, the strain originating from seedlings grew better than the others. The influence of kinetin did not seem to follow any pattern.
