In this volume, information on habitat, life history, special uses and genetics is given in separate chapters for 15 genera, 63 species and 20 varieties of conifers. The chapters, each written by specialist scientists, are arranged alphabetically by genus and species. References are included in each chapter and in a general section. The book also includes a glossary, a summary of tree characteristics (for broadleaves and conifers), checklists of insects and mites, organisms causing tree diseases, birds and mammals, and indexes of authors and common tree names.
