    ]. The fungicides were applied using 2, 4 or 8 spray treatments (400 litres/ha) which commenced on 30 September 1996 and 25 September 1997. Chlorothalonil treatment resulted in higher herb and oil yields compared to the other treatments. Herb and oil yields significantly increased (by 151 and 512%, respectively) compared with the control when chlorothalonil was applied 8 times during the peak disease period. Even with 2 sprays of chlorothalonil, the herb and oil yields increased by about 35 and 53%, respectively, over the control. Thiophanate-methyl sprayed plots showed increased herb (16%) and oil (105%) yields with 8 spray treatments compared with the control.
