    Abstract : 24 grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idellus) aged 2-years-old and with a body weight ranging 50-100g from Hubei, China were equally divided into 4 groups. One of the 4 groups was injected continuously with 0.5 ml of grass carp haemorrhage virus (GCHV) at a titre of 106 -107 TCID50/ml for 10 times at 6 days interval, and the other groups with 0.5 ml of bovine physiological saline (BSA) at 10 mg/ml.     of fish on BSA and GCHV; and to study the relationship between antibody titre (AT) and the number of antibody producing cells (APS). Results showed that the fish injected with GCHV had their antibody detected in serum at 21 days after inoculation, and their AT reached the highest value of 1:4 at 35 days, then maintained at a level of 1:4. However, the fish injected with BSA had their antibody detected at 14 days after inoculation, and their AT reached the highest value of 1:8 at 35 days after inoculation, then maintained at a level of 1:8. The APC in the circumferential blood of the fish injected with BSA that could produce the antibody resisting BSA could be detected using FITC-BSA (fluorescein-isothiocyanate-BSA) method. Moreover, there was significant and positive correlation between AT and the amount of APC. The differences in detecting APS were discussed between the method using fluorescein in marking antigen and monoclonal antibody method.
