Lucas Merritt

Lucas writes the animal science and zoology explainers. His editorial focus includes animal ecology, terrestrial and aquatic invertebrates, molluscs, invasive species, animal behaviour, species distributions and interactions between animals, agriculture and natural ecosystems.

He translates zoological studies into clear explanations while preserving distinctions between identification records, observational studies, experiments and broader ecological interpretations. His work emphasizes species-level accuracy, geographic context and the difference between documented impacts and impacts that have only been proposed or observed elsewhere.
